Yada yada

Be aware if you watch the Lord Of the Rings movies to move around once in a while. I watched 2 towers on saturday and didn't move hardly a muscle for at least one of the discs and have had a crink in my neck ever since.

The wife and I are counting the days down to the end... and the beginning. Its anywhere from a week to two weeks until our bundle of joy will come out and join the rest of us.

In other news we've been working on our picket fence, you may have noticed it, its the only fence that is halfway white.

We're trying to get the house in tip top shape, i guess get the house situated as much as possible before the time will need to be devoted to our little one.

Tour da Georgia in Tennessee is a pain in the butt you see

Nice little ryme eh? OK so I'm a fan of the Tour De GA, I think its cool that the U.S. has a moderately cool version of the Tour De France, being that North GA has some really beautiful scenery that can rival almost any state. I also like how it gets the small towns of GA some action as they are really cool and fun to visit and I'm generally a fan of tourism business...

This being said, the Tour taking a detour to Chatt i think is a little lame. I'm fine with it going up the Mtn, lookout that is, but I think it should stay in GA or at least begin and end in GA with maybe a detour in TN, this being a sort of snubb to TN saying "We got something cooler than you do." OK so thats my beef speaking as a GA resident.

Now speaking as someone who works downtown, i think the tour coming down town is the biggest pain in the rear. It basically cuts down town into two impenatrable zones. I had the unfortunate coincidence to have scheduled a dentist appointment (months ago) in Flinstone... where my dentist is. Now you can imagine driving from down town to Flinstone where the main route is broad street was a bit of a pain. Not as big as it could have been thanks to some side roads but still a pain. I had parked close to my office instead of at Finley (where i normally park) so I wouldn't have to walk too far to my car for my dentist appt.

I go to the dentist, everything's fine and dandy no cavities, and head back the way I came, TN rd through Stelmo and then the down market. Now here's the pain, my parking spot is long gone by now and so are all other parking spots close to broad street or at least a three block radius and not in the ghetto. So I hop on 27 to get over to finley. I park there and walk to work and then get to broad and am not allowed to cross. I'm a stone's throw from office and I'm stuck on east side of broad. A little bit of a rude cop tells me I can go all the way down to MLK to cross. I'm sorry but going three/four blocks in one direction to go three a four blocks back (total of 8) is rediculous when I can just hop skip and jump to the other side of the street. I was ticked to say the least.

Seeing the riders fly by I realized the race is a really cool thing. However I also realized that on a work day in the middle of the week is really bad timing for this race to be in busy chatt. There were so many people having to go all the way down to MLK to cross. One elderly lady I saw was trying to get to the Chattanoogan so she could get to work (i think she was a maid) and the police/staff made her take the 8 block detour.

I would have just called my boss and told him I was going home but the Mtn was closed anyway so i can't even go home. Heaven forbid if wifey went into labor.

I also saw on the news the other day how business people were mislead to believe that their stores/restaurants would still have access to the road. Anything on the west side of broad was off limits from 11 to 3, lunch time for places like Taco Bell, Mt Vernon, Subway, Soup On and the like. I think some better more out of the way routes should be considered for next year.

What would happen if you combined the movie Crash and Benchwarmers?

I think you'd have Napoleon saying, "Gosh you're so freakin racist!"

The wife and I enjoyed one of our last free weekends of no children. We're looking forward to the bundle of joy but we realize our lives will forever be changed and going out will require a friend or babysitter to watch the child. So Friday night in the fear of the monster storm that never even came close to Chattanooga we stayed in and watched Crash. I really liked the movie and thought it was an interesting look at racial relationships and interaction in California. Its interesting to see a movie where there is no real protagonist and the movie doesn't look at racism like American History X did. Crash is almost more realistic and relatable dealing with people's fear of other people. It was hard to follow at times, the story jumps around a lot which is fine but sometimes i think contenuity is lost with the jumps made. It was hard to figure out what Don Cheadle's character was doing... i figured it out but was sort of unclear for a few minutes.

Then saturday we went and saw Benchwarmers and went out for dinner. Benchwarmers was pretty stinking hilarious if you're in the mood for nose picking, Napoleon talking, wedgy humor. I think its hilarious that they take Napoleon out of the Napoleon movie and put him in a new context... it was a great cut and paste job. I mean it was so stupid it was funny kind of thing. David Spade was of course david spade and Rob Shneider was just a regular joe. I like how they make all the ESPN guys the bad guys and also "in the closet" pretty much saying that all jocks are bullys because they're in the closet.

The best Napoleon (His name is clark in the movie) quote:
Spade: Clark stop picking your nose...
Clark: I'm not I'm just scratching it...
Spade: You're probably scratching your brain...
Clark: YEAH cause its so freakin HUGE!

Of course read that with the napoleon accent.

Then we went to TGIF... and you know what... I couldn't believe it was friday. We had a gift certificate there and thus free food was had.

Sunday we just chilled and read books and what not. I forgot to watch the masters which was disappointing. Other than that a good weekend of quiet relaxation... that will soon end.

Mow time to Mow

I finally got my mower back from Home Depot. I had to take it in because the belts on it broke last fall after chopping one too many black walnuts up. The problem i was having with picking it up is i drive a Nissan sentra... not an ideal car to put a mower into.

You're probably thinking i popped the trunk and through it in there and tied the hatch down and drove home slowly. Well that was the plan till i realized it wouldn't fit, it was too tall to fit in the trunk, hence the need for this or this. Either would be nice. But suprisingly I folded up the handle bars, then folded the back seat down in the sentra and it went it perfectly and rested on the back of the seats thus not messing up the upholstry. Now driving home I had a good wiff of gas fumes (They hadn't closed the gas cap and I just assumed it was tightly closed... until the fumes came).

Anyway i got him home and did the first mow of the year, which is usually the most enjoyable because the grass is so high and i'm not sick of mowing every week yet.

This weekend we'll probably just use the time to relax and work on the house some saturday. Probably go out ot dinner, one of the few last times we'll be able to go on one without hiring a baby sitter. I really want to go see Benchwarmers... I don't care if Napoleon is cashing in, it still looks funny. Besides, doing a Napoleon 2, that'd be lame and cashing in, this is just taking the same character and throwing him into a new situation with new dorky friends.

I gotta get out of here....

Freedom Fighters: game review

In an effort to kill time on a friday afternoon i will be writing about a video game. Feel free to not read this.

I borrowed freedom fighters from crabb dog and started playing it. So far I really enjoy it as it is super easy, has guns, and has communists as the bad guys. Basically its one of those games where the US screws up the cold war and communist take over the world, those are always fun. So the COmmies invade the US and you're this humble plumber in NY and are recruited by the resistence movement and basically go around hoisting the US flag over all of NY.

You also command several resistence fighters as their leader. Its pretty simplistic with only four commands but with simplicity comes fun.

The best 3rd person strategy game i felt like was the original hidden and dangerous which had you control a squad of 4 guys in WW2. It was insanely hard but very fun, except when glitches reared their ugly head in the game which was often. I remember exposing one glitch in a level where you have to drive through a german controlled sector. I had quick saved at the wrong point and got stuck in an area where I was basically getting shelled by the germans. I took my car off road and basically found a hole in the game that allowed me to cheat and make it to the finish line.

Anyway freedom fighters so far is good, and it runs on my computer which is always a plus.

A new dream car

OK, my phase with the elemnt is officially over. Well for now. I've found a new love. Its called the FIT by Honda. Its due out this spring and basically is the equivalent of a Matrix by toyota. We testdrove the matrix back when we were looking at a new car (we settled on the accord). My problem with the Matrix was it wasn't very functional, the seats folded down but there was still little space and it felt cramped. Honda has always felt a little bit bigger in my opinion, at least comparing corolla's to civics. The stow and go feature of the fit is the kicker for me, check the site out and see all of its functionality.

I've always been a fan of smaller cars. My sentra is a lot more fun to drive than my wife's accord. It handles better, and is easier to park. Plus the price of a compact car is always less... i think its cause its smaller. Also i'm a fan of good gas mileage.

Anyway its not like i can afford a car but its nice to dream.

Well we've been showered. We

Well we've been showered. We had two strait weekends of showers and got some good stuff. We got our stroller from my mother in law the graco 2 bit slama jama 3000 quatro tour. But since we didn't get the car seat that went with it, we figured why have a stroller if you can't even take the baby home from the hospital? The problem with returning the stroller is the only place's that carry this kind are in New Jersey and Atlanta... we opted for the Atlanta option and returned it today and got the carseat. Our mother in law understood, i mean you gotta have what you need. Plus we got a skeleton stroller which the car seat straps into which is only 30 bucks so that takes care of the stroller.

Our nursey is ready to go too we got it fully decorated with curtains and paint and all the furniture set up.

The count down is on four more weeks. Wifey's handling things well but she is having a hard time just doing everyday stuff.

Bloggin has been tough... the no internet thing has its drawbacks. Plus the library is kind of gross. I don't want to sound like a snob but the keyboards are greasy. Plus i've been pretty dang busy at work... first time for everything i guess.

Anyway gotta go install the car seat.
