Generally I don't make fun of other people's blogs, but this one... i'm sorry, I mean really. Specially since the title i read on chattablogs, and was like, "Aw sweet Moby's got a new album, and a rap one, that could be cool...."
They duped me.
Chattanooga Memories Volume 1... a big mistake
About a year ago or so Josiah invited me down to play Call of Duty with him and the Coptix guys at Coptix. Being a gamer I thought, "Man that'd be fun, seeing all the guys, playing a cool video game...."
Then something similar to this happened....
I definately underestimated Josiah and crew's intensity. I recall Lang and Josiah uttering similar things that Andrew Benard uttered in that clip. In fact, I recall being bored on one level, bit of a stalemate so I shot josiah in the back in order to let the other team through our blockade and end the level... I thought he was going to shoot me in real life... in all honesty... my fear of his retaliation is what prompted me to move to ATL.
Ooof, softball started tonight. I joined my church's team CCP Crusaders... better watch out muslims.... that's a joke, we're not planing a trip to holy lands.
I'd never played Softball before. I played scrubb league baseball in highschool. Scrubb we were the worst team and I was one of the better players on my team... so that says how bad we were. I really generally stink at baseball and subsequently softball. I can't throw, never really could, never really was taught the proper way to throw. So every year I was stuck in Right field and the coaches prayed that nothing was hit towards me.
And I always hit last. It was pretty unfair to. Our coach would say at practice, "Ok guys who ever gets to the field first will be the first to bat, second person there bats second, and so on and so on..." So who was first everytime.... Me... who bat last everytime... Me. I'd ask, "Uh coach i was here first...."
"Oh sorry Chris didn't see you there... maybe next time..."
But anyway, softball was pretty fun. I got two infield hits... beat out the throws and what not. Granted I'm soooo out of shape my legs hurt right now. Haven't really had to sprint since I played soccer back in chatty in the fall. And we have a rotating system for fielding where the not so good guys tend to play several positions... which is fine with me. But I think catcher was my favorite.... least amount of balls hit to me and my weak arm won't matter since I don't have to throw... no stealing.
So we'll see, my ultimate goal is to just meet some guys in the church and get some fresh air. Playing soccer in chatty was great and I miss playing and all the guys that I used to play with. Crabb and I are probably going to get a league/group of guys to play in the fall after Cobb county's done building the soccer fields next to his house.
We rented two movies this weekend, one was critically acclaimed and supposed to be good, the other was reviewed as terrible and a waste of money. The two movies were The Good Sheperd and Music and Lyrics... guess which one I liked.
Music and Lyrics was your stereo typical cookie cutter Hugh Grant romantic comedy. The story is about a band called Pop in the 80s that is huge (pretty much they're Wham!) and the main star goes big (George Michael esque) and he has a huge career off where as the other main star of Pop (Hugh Grant) does gigs at Busch Gardens. The movie I thought was really funny, I mean to see Hugh grant doing these terribly cheesy 80s dance moves is histarical. Plus Pop's one hit wonder song is pretty spot on for a cheesy 80s song/video. I actually have the song stuck in my head at the moment, its that catchy! The whole story is kind lame as is the case with every romantic comedy. But it takes a good swipe at the rediculousness of today's pop music. The movies a little slow at parts but when you just sit back and just let the laugh's flow this movie is pretty funny. I compare it to 9months another Hugh Grant romantic comedy that had some really funny parts.
The Good Sheperd on the other hand... last time I fell asleep in a movie before this???? The Interpreter with Nicole Kidman. Maybe its the whole geo-political drama genre that just puts me to sleep. Ironically I wrote my senior thesis on the cold war so you'd think this movie would interest me. It had interesting parts, but was soooooooooo slow, the cast seemed to mumble the whole time, and Matt Damon probably said 3 things. I realize his character is the silent type but this is the 21st century... we don't have a place for a silent movies anymore.
The movie had some interesting themes, interesting ideas, cool setting (Cold War can't get any cooler... lame joke), but it was just soooooo boring.
Whenever I watch a movie like this (Interpreter) I recall a simpsons episode where marge and homer go see a movie and he lets her pick. She starts raving about all the reviews and how its one of the "best geo-political movies of the year..."
Homer's response, "awwwww Political???!"
