I'm not a huge NBA fan, not a huge basketball fan at all to be honest. But the Lakers dusting off the 'short shorts' against the celtics was pretty cool. Granted Boston shut them down, but it was still cool to see the old shorts, granted i think Stockton's were still shorter.
I'm not a big Kobe fan, is anyone, its like being a Vick fan. But the guy is pretty amazing, as was Vick I must say. And this picture I just thought was so Jordan esque...

I am litterally the only person in my office right now. Not a soul on this floor...
this sucks...
and I went to the food court to get some lunch and made a poor choice. Everything looked gross, since everyone's on vacation I guess they're putting out the left over food?? Cleaning out the fridge perhaps. So everything looked old and nasty... so me in my infinite stupidity got a DQ burger and fries and after eating it I want to take out my stomach and throw it in the garbage. Because apparently that is how much I value my stomach by putting that crap in it.
I'm sorry boy (talking to my belly), I"m sorry I give you crap to digest and expect you to work miracles. I'm sorry I've let you grown to epic porportions... forgive me my prescious stomach...
Christmas came and went and it was kind of cool to have our first Christmas with Anna-Kate really into it. Last year she was still to young to understand what was going on but this year she got the whole concept of gifts = toys in her case.
Her big gift this year was a doll we got her, one that does not make noise, spit up, poop, pee, or do anything else obnoxious... its just a doll. We also got her a stroller for said baby and pretty much she was walking that thing around all day on Christmas and Boxing day. The funniest site was seeing her in the car driving home yesterday holding the baby, talking on her cell phone (a toy cell phone) and talking up a storm to "Addie..." what she calls Adam Crabb. She also got a vacuum cleaner from Mana and Papa (Janelle's Grandparents, Anna-Kate's Great Grandparents) and a few books and lots of toy food for her kitchen courtesy of my parents.
I got a few cds, David Gray's Lost Songs which I'm pretty excited about, and some dvds and a cashmere sweater. Janelle got some jewelry, one of those digital picture frames, and some stuff for around the house.
It was a great Christmas, though insanely quick. Work was going so full speed the weeks prior to christmas that I felt like I wasn't able to sit and just relax and enjoy the time of year. Every once and a while I got a sec to soak it all in. Going to our Church's christmas concert had to be the highlight of the season. Janelle sang in the choir and Anna-Kate and I watched. It was a tad long but it was really great to sit for 2 hours and listen to Christmas music that is about Christ. Granted Anna-Kate melted down with only 15 minutes left in the program... I forgot to feed her dinner so i had to duck out and feed her a granola bar to tide her over. But she made it an hour and 45 minutes just sitting in my lap in awe of the singers and music.
Also watching the kids choir sing gave janelle and I a glimpse of the future and gave us warm fuzzies as we look forward to our kids sitting up there squirming and singing.
But here I am at work again, the only one in the office, feeling a bit like Bob Cratchet. Oh well, least I can afford the Christmas goose.... oh man I could go for some Christmas goose...... hmmmmm.... goose.....
This will probably be our last Christmas traveling. As I was driving home our Honda Fit loaded to the gills, copper in his cage compeletly burried under presents, I realized even with a mini van taking two kids, a dog, and all our key rap is just too much of a hassle. I started rethinking my decision while driving back home and how it will be sad to stop traveling... then Anna-Kate started crying and yelling "UP PLEASE" and I was firmly re-established in my desire to not travel with two kids and a dog.
Its amazing to find a politician who actually votes what he belives, has a bit of consistency, and actually believes this country should be run on the basis of the constitution, you know that document that is the instruction manual for America that we seem to have long since forgotten.
Gotta love this cheesy rock n roll music video
I was sort of in between Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee.. but after watching this on roe's blog
and then watching the Ron Paul video and reading all about Ronny online and his voting record, I'm putting my support between Ron Paul....
So eat that Barack and Oprah.. the Holtonian is going for Ron Paul...
OPRAH YOU GOT NO GAME!!!! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!! DON"T BRING THAT WEAK TOT ACTION!!!!!!!!!
It just astounds me how far republicans have strayed from the conservative politics of the 90s. You know back when they weren't in power so they had to counter the democrats, but then they got power and became the very thing they were fighting against.
So I wanted to do something special for the wife before holidays, I wanted to take her on a nice fun and romantic date. Hadn't had one in a while and with baby number 2 just a few months away we want to live it up while we can before going out becomes more than just dropping one kid off at a friends house.
So I planned a romantic night at Sotto Sotto an italian place I've had some friends rave about. And then do some fun, with a trip to the Thrashers game.
I pretty much only like hockey and baseball as sports I follow, (I like football but don't have a horse in the game) and since Janelle hate's baseball I thought I should take her to see what professional hockey is all about.
So a great date right? Something for everyone? Well problem is work has been crazy busy and I just couldn't get away so we had to forgo Soto and go strait to the game. So that sort of stunk and made the whole date more about what I wanted to do... but I promised janelle a date after christmas.
I picked the game tuesday night because they were playing the Lightning, a team they could easily beat. They had the Senators lined up for thursday, which was two for one night (Two tickets were 15 bucks), but after they got shalacked by them on Saturday I went for the two tickets for 20 bucks on tuesday.
The game was great they were up 3 to nothing in the first period, and ended up winning 6 to 2. Kovalchuk had an amazing steal in the neutral zone that led to a subsequent breakaway and a subsequent goal. Kovalchuk is so amazing to watch the guy has some serious talent. So to top off all that in the last minute the gloves game off and we had a good old fasion fight.
So as far as dates go, not so great, but man as far as hockey games go picked a great one.
Though its ironic becasue they ended up beating the Senators tonight, which i think was a huge game for their confidence taking down the best team in hockey. Specially for such a young team.
It really is exciting to watch Atlanta, they're so young and got some real good talent. Wadell (GM/Coach) is doing a decent job of just letting htem play and putting the right guys on the right lines however I seriously doubt he can keep up the GM/Coach thing forever. They tried going the old school coach route, the ballbuster if you will in Bob Hartley, and that did not work with this young hot shot team. So they'll need to find a guy who I think gel with the players, be that motivator/discipliner but not in a domineering anti fun way like hartley was. It still pains me that they traded Heatley away but they sort of had to.
The fans too are great, there aren't many, but man they are probably the passionate fans in Atlanta. I say that comparing them to the Braves, Falcons, and Hawks fans. Braves fans are apathetic for the most part, Falcons fans are pretty passionate and loyal despite all the crap they've gone through, and hawks fans are pretty much non-existent. Seriously I have not found one person in this city who goes to their games. A lot of our neighbors and some of my co-workers have season tickets to the trashers, but no one has season tickets or even goes to hawks games. We'll see, maybe if they win or something. They're actually over 500, and I may go to a game some day.
OK now i'm just rambling...
OK here is my latest idea on what to do with Rolen. He obviously needs to be traded as he's chosen to never patch things up with Larussa and Larussa has chosen to be a crotchety old man and continue to stoke the argument instead of letting it die.
My call for rolen for arod went unheeded the past few years, so we'll have to come up with a new trade. I'm thinking a three way trade with Rolen going to whomever wants him (royals?) and then the royals send someone to detroit, and we get Brandon Inge. Inge is a step down from rolen... however that is he is a step down from a healthy Rolen. But as we haven't seen a healthy one around in a while I think it would be a viable. Inge is a team player and think he would fit well with the cardinals.
I also think they should trade Reyes to anyone for anyone.
